Bigger Picture

Bigger Picture Diploid;Bloom; 7"; Scape 30"; Branching 4-5 was; Buds 20 plus; M-L bloom; reblooms; fragrant; SEV. (KALEIDOSCOPIC INTRIGUE X RAINBOW OVER MARIETTA) X A WORLD AWAY. Bigger Picture lives up to its name and is quite the beauty in the garden, one that will stop people in their tracks! A bitone, the clear blue- lavender petals are centered with a lime green heart which extends into a chartreuse eyezone. The eyezone then extends outward and blends in a halo of light blue, which then blends into a darker narrow band of blue-lavender. Paler sepals repeat the pattern of the petals. Petals are surrounded by large ruffles, as are the sepals. This daylily has always been a stunner, and is the parent of several select seedlings. I could have sold it many times over the years since its maiden bloom in 2021. SOLD OUT FOR 2025

I Am Number Ten

I Am Number Ten Tetraploid; 5.5" bloom; 26" scape; 4 branches; 16 buds; EM season; Reblooms; Sev; DRAGONFLY DAWN X PERSISTENT ILLUSION; I AM NUMBER TEN got its name as it was the tenth seedling in the row when it first bloomed. It has since been a wonderful hybridizing tool as a pollen parent, throwing amazing variegated pattern eyezones in many colors. I AM NUMBER TEN has peach petals are centered with a variegated pattern eyezone of near-blue, which is intense and vivid. This eyezone is lined in deep purple veining which extends out onto the petals. The deep green eye is also patterned with shades of gray, lavender and blue and is apparent on the sepals as well. Sepals carry distinct and vivid arrow patterns of white, gray, blue and tan. Flowers are star-shaped and show the patterns vividly. This daylily is distinctly different appearing than any patterned daylily currently on the market, and will not be mistaken. Plants are limited!

Indigo Explosion

Indigo Explosion diploid; Scape 26"; Bloom 5"; Branches 3; Buds 15; Rebloom; fragrant; dormant; (Juke Box x Nature's Reverberations) Pale petals are centered with a bursting Indigo eyezone of various bands of saturation. Bands are covered with darker veining which extends through the final deep purple mascara band and onto the petal. Sepals carry a similar eyezone which also extends into spears along the midribs. Petals have the eyezone color banding the outer edges of the petals. Heart of the flower is brilliant yellow-green which has some gray veining along its outer edge before blending into the eyezone. Indigo Explosion carries the best of both its parents, being a lovely pattern which is consistent from day to day as is Nature's Reverberations and a great breeding plant like Juke Box, while reblooming reliably. It is extremely hardy surviving even the worst winters. Limited quantity.

Nature''s Blue Rhapsody

Nature's Blue Rhapsody Diploid; Scape 25"; Bloom 4.5"; Branches 3; Buds 15;Midseason; rebloom; fragrant; (Rhapsody in Blue X {Out of the Blue X Good Clean Thoughts}) I was so excited when Nature's Blue Rhapsody first bloomed. It looks a lot like its pod parent Rhapsody In Blue, but with much clearer color and better presentation of the blooms. I registered it as having 3 branches, but on rebloom, it will sport 4 and even 5 branches. The best thing about this beauty is that it is POD FERTILE, and sinfully so, which the pod parent is not. It also is a fantastic parent, throwing much fancier and larger blooms than it is. The near white petals are centered by a deep indigo-purple eyezone which covers two-thirds of the petal centers. Edges of the eyezone are brushed onto the petals and the eyezone is also apparent on the sepals. Blooms are centered with a deep green throat. The ruffled petals are surrounded by a picotee edge matching the eyezone and roll back exposing the huge center of the blooms, which give the appearance of a purple flower sitting inside a white flower. This is a daylily to cherish for years, as it seems to be blooming all summer, making a lovely addition to the garden landscape as well as a valuable hybridizing workhorse. Limited quantity available.

Sugar Maple Beauty

Sugar Maple Beauty Tetraploid; Bloom 6" ; Scape 40"; Branches 3 plus; Buds 15-24; ML; Reblooms; dormant; Fragrant;(Sambuish Gap x Red Whimsey) Sugar Maple Beauty is a REAL eyecatcher and one that speaks to you from a distance. Brilliant orange-rose petals are centered with a yellow-green throat circled by a pale rose halo. Halo is surrounded by a red mascara band. Midribs are white and very apparent. Petals are covered by deep orange red veining. Deep gold recurved sepals contrast starkly with the petal colors. Sugar Maple Beauty has always reminded me of autumn, hence the name. It is a great landscape plant for the back of the border, giving good rebloom when it gets enough water. Fertile both ways, and throws lovely bicolor kids. Everybody wants this when they visit the garden!

Vermilion County

Vermilion County Tetraploid; Bloom 5.5"; Scape 40"; Branches 4 -5; Buds 16 or more; M; Rebloom; Dormant; Fragrant; (Hot Mama x Christmas Spirit) This is probably the most asked about tet in the garden the past 4 years, as its height and beautiful color just make it an 'in your face' kind of plant. The flowers are vermilion red with blood red areas and veining. A pale rose-red eyezone with bright green eye centers the bloom. Rose sepals with blood red brushings around the eyezone area make this a bitone, while bright gold crimped edges on petals and sepals finish off this jewel of a daylily. I named this one for my home county of Vermilion, which has gone through many ups and downs in the past few decades, but is still a beautiful place with important historical history.

Victorian Blue Gown

Victorian Blue Gown Tetraploid; Bloom 6.5" to 7"; Scape 47: Branches 4-5; Buds 20-25; M; Rebloom; SEV; very fragrant; EXT; (Pink Iceberg x Lover's Lemonade) This has been a favorite of mine since I really love 'blue' daylilies! The huge blooms just draw you in and the height and branching of the scapes really show the blooms off to great advantage. Scapes are super strong, compliments of Pink Iceberg, and the flowers are super-fancy which comes from Lover's Lemonade. The icy blue-lavender petals are centered with a bright green throat. Then a white to pale blue halo with deep blue purple mascara outline surrounds the throat. This mascara band then extends into arrow shapes along the midribs. For the trimmings, heavily crimped and ruffled edges are finished off with a pale gold metallic crimp on the edges of the petals with a blue purple picotee lining the crimping. A fancy flower which is also a tremendous parent! I have culled very few of its offspring the past few years, selling them out of the garden and a few on the Lily Auction, as well as dozens of seeds. Very fertile both ways and extremely hardy in Central Illinois.

White Cheddar

White Cheddar diploid; Bloom 5-6"; Scape 42"; Branches 5-6; Buds 25-30; Very fragrant; Reblooms. (Morning Lullaby x Blackberry Butterfly) White Cheddar is a hybridizer's dream plant, as it is sinfully fertile, and reblooms at least twice for me in the sand bed. It has the beautiful branching and high bud count from Morning Lullaby and the big blooms from Blackberry Butterfly. In my 40 plus years of hybridizing, I have learned that a 'white' from purple lines is extremely valuable as a tool to clear up colors and patterns. White Cheddar's blooms are lovely as well with very pale, near white petals which are creped in texture. The blooms are centered with a deep yellow eyezone and green throat. Midribs of white slash into the yellow eyezone. White Cheddar has sharply recurved, ruffled petals which can make it look smaller than it actually is. I bloomed its first crop of kids this year and they were lovely, big flowers with nice scapes. I can't wait to see the additional crops of kids from it to come in the next couple of years.

These are the plants which will be registered for 2025 season. Some will be available upon approval of their names, others will be held for increase for a short time.
